Leave of Absence (LOA) Upgrade
October 2026
Summary
This upgrade gives staff an intuitive way to manage a resident's Leave of Absence from start to finish. LOA status for each resident is now visible in the MAR Round/Pass and across the solution, releasing and setting unknown leave period is easier to handle, and a new filter helps teams keep track of who's due back. Together, these changes reduce the risk of a resident being overlooked around a period of leave.
What's New
Manage a Resident's Full LOA History in One Screen
A new LOA Events screen shows a resident's complete LOA history. Medication managers can review past periods, add new ones, or edit and remove existing records, including historical periods that have already ended, with built-in checks to stop LOA periods overlapping each other or existing administration records.
See LOA Status Directly on the MAR Pass
Residents on LOA now appear in their own section on the MAR pass, with their card showing an LOA badge, and their expected return date at a glance. Care teams no longer need to click into a resident to confirm their LOA status and return dates.
Release a Resident from LOA Intuitively
Med managers can now release a resident from LOA directly from the LOA for All Residents window or the MAR round/pass. Staff can confirm and choose which round/pass to bring them back into, without having to enter exact release dates and times.
Put a Resident on LOA with an Unknown Return Date
For residents without a known return date, staff can mark LOA return date as Unknown instead of entering and repeatedly re-editing a placeholder date. These residents show a clear "Unknown" return badge.
Find Residents Who Are Due Back, Before They're Forgotten
A new "Returning" filter on the LOA for All Residents screen lets staff view residents by how soon they're expected back: next 7, 14, or 28 days, or Unknown for those with no return date set or due back in more than 28 days.
Improvements
Dedicated Reason List for LOA
LOA now has its own list of reasons, separate from the general "Not Administered" reasons list, so staff can document more accurately why a resident is on leave.
LOA Edits and Removals Are Tracked for Review
Edits to LOA periods continue to be recorded in the Activity Log with more clarity and detail about who made the change, when, and a before-and-after summary.
Date of Birth Now Shown on the Resident Card
The standard resident information card, shown across MAR/TAR, e-Notes, Dashboard, and Point of Care, now also displays the resident's date of birth alongside their LOA status.
