Update Procedure
The Update Procedure can be executed by a person or an automated process. In either case, the account used for executing the procedure must have Administrator Access to the device where you are performing the update.
If you are executing this procedure manually, please obtain the username and password for an account that has Administrator Access to the device before proceeding.
Steps
- Login to the device where you will perform the update. You may use any account to login to the device, but we recommended that you use the account with administrator access. If you choose not to use an administrator account to login, you will still need the username and password for the administrator account to perform the installation as the Windows Operating System will request that password as needed
- Create a folder anywhere on the device and place the exe file into that folder. This folder may be on the device or on a networked share. The user executing the process must have read and write access to the folder
For this document, we will assume that the folder is C:\Users\admin\Downloads\ReportsUpdater - Launch an Administrative Command Prompt: Start -> Windows System -> Command Prompt (Right-Click, Select More -> Run as Administrator)
If prompted, enter the username and password for an account with administrator access to the device - In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter to navigate to the application installation folder:
CD /D "C:\Users\admin\Downloads\ReportsUpdater"
Note: Replace C:\Users\admin\Downloads\ReportsUpdater with the path to the folder created in Step #2
- Type the following command and press Enter to start the update process:
ReportsClientServiceUpdate.exe
- When the update process completes, you will be returned to the prompt. If any errors occurred during the update, they will be displayed on the screen. You may find further information about the update and any errors in the Updater Log File - C:\Users\admin\Downloads\ReportsUpdater\Logs\MECServiceUpdater.log
Note: Replace C:\Users\admin\Downloads\ReportsUpdater with the path to the folder created in Step #2
- Type exit and press Enter or close the Command Prompt window
