COVID-19 Major Comorbidity Count Algorithm for RAI-MDS 2.0

The Major Comorbidity Count Algorithm has been developed to identify the residents who may be at increased risk of mortality should they contract Corona Virus (COVID-19). The count can be calculated ranging from 0 to 6. These counts can be aggregated into three groups to facilitate identification of individuals at the highest risk within the population. The three groupings are:

• Low Risk= 0
• Moderate Risk= 1-2
• High Risk= 3 or more

Parameters:

Report:

• Unit- Unit Name
• Program- Type of the program
• Quarter- Assessment Quarter
• COVID-19 Risk Scale- 0 = Low risk; 1-2 = Moderate risk; 3+ = High risk
• Total- Total number of the residents at risk
• Weigh- Weighted average score of the entire row.

• Unit, Program, Quarter- Unit Name, Type of Program, Assessment Quarter
• Name- Resident’s name
• Room- Room Number
• Type- Type of the assessment (Code)
• Score- Risk Score
• Category- Risk Category (Low, Moderate, High)
• Date Elements- Elements used to calculate the score
